* An Unexpected Snow *

I wanted to do a winter scene, and was inspired by a piece of printed silk in russet, gray and a cold blue. That's all it took to get me going. Everything went into this quilt, including silks, scraps of chenille yarn and my lingerie bag (perfect cut up for the wet snowflakes). The whole thing turned out to be ominously dark, which necessitated the addition of the light border in colors that went with the snow-covered road. The piece was still lacking in color, and the bluejays flew in, adding the perfect accent.
